Black Hill Regional Park, Jeanette and Phil with their dogs

Jeanette, Phil, Nemi, and Leo

This session at black hill regional park in Maryland with Jeanette and Phil was a total dream. If I could choose one word to describe this session, that word would be joy. I had never been to black hill before, so I’m really glad that they suggested it. It has a big, beautiful lake, lots of woods, a dock, and open fields. This place is a photographers dream.

Jeanette and Phil were actually referred to me by a friend, so we had never met before this session. I’m so glad we had an hour to shoot because it gave me a chance to get to know them better. Their two dogs, Leo and Nemi, were so incredibly fun and well behaved. They loved running around and playing with each other, but when mom and dad said to come, they did! Nemi, unfortunately, has a rare form of cancer and there is no way to treat it. This is actually why they wanted to get some professional photos done. They wanted to be able to remember Nemi and have good quality pictures to look back on. This kind of story is why I love what I do. I love being able to capture sweet moments together that they can look back on for the rest of their lives.

“There was a lot of laughter, sweet looks, and kisses.”

While I was with Jeanette and Phil, it was obvious to me how much they love their dogs and each other. There was a lot of laughter, sweet looks, and kisses. I really loved that. You can tell when two people truly love each other. It’s almost palpable.

“Such a sweet boy!”

Nemi was having a good day during our session, so we were able to capture his sweet personality. He ran and played, swam a little, sniffed everything, and gave lots of cuddles. Such a sweet boy! It was important to me that they also got individual pictures with Nemi, so we got those as well. We also got individual pictures of Leo because he is such a good boy and shouldn’t be left out.

As someone who also has a dog who is a part of our family, their story really touched me. It made me reflect on how precious our time is with our furry friends because they just aren’t with us as long as we would like. My dog, champ, is the goodest boy and I can’t imagine life without him now. I know eventually that will become a reality, however, so I’m trying to make our years count and make sure he knows he is loved.

Don’t worry. Champ is spoiled rotten.

Jeanette and Phil, thank you so much for letting me be a part of your story. I loved every single minute of your session, and I love the way your pictures turned out. I wish all the best for you and your family going forward. Hopefully we will meet again soon!
